Mr. Akwasi Aboagye Atuah - Chairman

Mr. Akwasi Aboagye Atuah is the founder and CEO, of Lifeforms Group. He began his career in 1987 as a film Producer/ Director doing corporate videos and documentaries. He is considered the pioneer of airtime sales and program syndication in Ghana. Working with Warner Brothers, Columbia Pictures and Viacom, in introducing to Ghanaian TV screens sitcoms such as 227, family matters and different strokes, The Cosby show among many others, which arguably raised the bar for Ghanaian producers.

After a successful career in program syndication, Mr. Atuah realigned Lifeforms core function from program syndication to infrastructure program development. Over the past ten (10) years, Lifeforms Limited under the direction of Mr. Atuah, has developed a number of projects.
Mr. Atuah is also the promoter of the Switchback Development Project, a 17-acre mixed development, consisting of apartments, office space and a hotel, of which Lifeforms is in partnership with the SSNIT and Trassaco Estate Development Company.

He was also at the forefront of the strategic acquisition of shares in two (2) Ghanaian banks by Lifeforms, Prudential Bank Ghana and Fidelity Bank Ghana and a board member of Donewell Life Insurance Limited and Prudential Bank Limited.
Mr. Attuah is currently the Board Chairman of Phytoriker Pharmaceuticals Limited and also sits on the board of Forms Capital Ltd., Prudential Properties Ltd. and Frontline Capital Ltd.He holds an MBA from the China Europe Business School (CEIBS). He is also a long serving Rotarian and established and chaired the Rotary Foundation for the Rotary Club of Accra, Airport.

Mr. Attuah has been described by his peers as tenacious, creative and full of drive which is also the mantra he lives by. He believes in working hard and giving back, the inspiration behind the formation of Forms Foundation and his invitation to be an adviser or partner of ACUMEN Fund West Africa.
Mr. Attuah is married to lovely Anna and has four (4) children.

 

Mr. Kwaku Appiah-Menka II – Chief Executive Officer (Member)

Mr. Kwaku Appiah-Menka II joined SIC Life Insurance LTD in November 2017, as the Deputy Managing Director with vast experience  in Finance, Banking, Investment, Marketing, Sales and Research.

A product of Mfantsipim School, he started his career as a Sales and Research Intern with the Marketing Division of Turner  International (CNN) in London before joining the Project Finance team of the Emerging Markets Division of Standard Corporate &  Merchant Bank in Johannesburg. Subsequently he joined the Treasury Department of Barclays Bank Ghana Limited (ABSA) as a Dealer on the Money Markets desk where he gained experience in currency trading and settlement, securities and investment analysis.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics and Social Studies from the University of Manchester in England and a Masters of Business Administration from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School in Atlanta, Georgia. He also has a Diploma in Petroleum, Oil and Gas Management from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration as well as Diploma in Applied Insurance Studies from the Malta International Training Centre and Ghana Insurance College. He is an Affiliate Member of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Ghana (CIIG) and recently completed a course in Leadership at Harvard University.

Prior to his appointment with SIC Life Insurance LTD, he worked in an executive management position of Appiah Menka Complex Limited.

 

Mr. Stephen Oduro - Member

Mr. Stephen Oduro is the Managing Director of SIC Insurance Company Limited.

He has over thirty (30) years of progressive experience in leading financial application systems development projects, designing, installing, and implementing for banking, insurance, brokerage and healthcare industries. Mr. Oduro has proven skills in analysis, research, communication, designing of quality assurance strategies, and negotiation. He is detailed and result-oriented with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Prior to this appointment he was an Associate/Senior Change Management Specialist with Brown Brothers Harriman Inc., Jersey City responsible for implementing Change Management tools for the Quality Management department. He was also a Partner/Senior Consultant with Afrisys /Constech Consulting Services, Accra, Ghana where he offered Consulting services for the government of Ghana to manage the Y2K conversion. Mr. Oduro also served as an Associate Manager at Prudential Insurance Company, Roseland, New Jersey where he was responsible for designing and developing the front-end processing for several application areas.

He is a product of the Rutgers University - Graduate School of Management, Newark, New Jersey with an MBA in Computer and Information Systems with Financial Application bias and the Bernard M. Baruch College, City University of New York, New York City with a B.B.A., Computer Systems.

 

Mad. Felicia Gyamfi Ashley - Member

Felicia is the Technical Advisor for General Administration at the Ministry of Finance. In her capacity, she oversees the entire General Administration function of the Ministry of Finance with responsibilities spanning General Services, HR, Procurement, IT, Security, Accounts and Transport.

She previously worked as a Vice President and Head of Human Capital and Administration of the Databank Group. In this role, she was responsible for the human resource strategy and functions of the Group including recruitment and staffing, learning and development, performance management, employee/labour relations and career development. Prior to taking up this appointment, Felicia worked as an Equity Research Analyst in the Research Department and was responsible for financial and economic analysis on the Ghana Stock Market and the economy.

Felicia graduated with first class honours in Psychology and French from the University of Ghana, Legon and has an MBA in Human Resource Management from the Paris Graduate School of Management, France. She is a member of the Institute of Human Resource Management Practitioners (IHRMP) and a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). She is a lawyer and a member of the Ghana Bar Association. Her interests include coaching and mentoring the young generation and inspiring them to develop an ethical and values-based mindset in their career.

 

 

Mr. Nick Twum Ampofo - Member

Nick Twum Ampofo is a retired Senior Management Staff who worked for various Insurance Companies in Ghana and the United Kingdom. A graduate of the premier University of Ghana, Legon and alumnus of Institute of Management and Public Administration, GIMPA. He has over 32 years of hands on experience in leading finance and insurance companies both home and abroad. He has flair for organizing, seminars, writing insurance manuals, coordinating and monitoring insurance and financial advisers.

He holds a Post Graduate Certificate from, Institute of Public Studies, Duke University, Durham, United States. He is a qualified member of Life Insurance and Financial Advisors Association London (ALIA/UK – 1987).Nick Ampofo is an adept insurance practitioner with inter-personal skills to motivate staff/workforce to offer quality service to clients and consequently enhancing institutional image of all companies he has worked for.

He started his career as a project officer at the then Project Development Unit of National Investment Bank before he left for United Kingdom. He worked with various companies including Abbey Life Company, American Life, ManuLife Financial Group (Western Union), Acuma-American Express Financial Services all in the United Kingdom.

Back home, Nick worked with the Enterprise Group Financial and with erstwhile SIC Insurance Company Limited. In 2006 after the promulgation of the Insurance ACT 724, Nick Ampofo opted to work for SIC Life Company Limited, where he meritoriously retired in December, 2015.

He was the Secretary to the Committee tasked to plan and implement the successful de-coupling of the SIC Life Company from the composite SIC Insurance Company Limited in 2006. He undertook this assignment with utmost affinity for details and meeting tight deadlines until the department emerged as a fully-fledged Corporate Entity which began operations in 2007.

Nick has attended various insurance courses and seminars including Risk Management and Corporate Governance, Making Micro insurance Work for Ghana, Life Insurance Leadership training and Customer Loyalty Strategies.

 

Odiatuo-Kankam Bempong Capt. (RTD) - Member

Capt. (Rtd.) Odiatuo-Kankam Bempong is a 65 year old Retired Army Officer having served with the Colours in the Ghana Army to the Rank of a Captain.

A Graduate of the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst in the United Kingdom, Capt. (Rtd.) Odiatuo-Kankam Bempong was commissioned into the Ghana Army In 1975. He served in various units of the Ghana Armed Forces and holding various appointments commensurate with his rank. He undertook United Nations Peace Keeping Operations in Sinai, Egypt under U.N.E.F. and U.N.I.F.I.L. in Lebanon. He left the Service in 1983.

In civilian life, Capt. (Rtd.) Odiatuo-Kankam Bempong worked with Busi and Stephenson GH. Ltd. - a British Trading Firm as the Regional Manager for Greater Accra, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines as Head of Security and The Royal Netherlands Embassy in Accra as a Field Worker.

He is presently a Co-Shareholder/Director Of Debill Services Ltd. - a Private Security organisation with speciality in Aviation Security as well as Electronic and Man-Guard Security. In addition, he is the Sole Proprietor of Eagle Eye Consultancy which undertakes investigations/verifications of documents for and on behalf of certain Foreign Missions in Accra.

Capt. (Rtd.) Odiatuo-Kankam Bempong is married with six children. He is a Christian and fellowships with Endtime Revival Mission, Tema, a non-denominational fellowship that believes in the Spoken Word Ministry. He delights in religious music and literature, games (especially football) and travelling.

 

Mr. Samuel Agyapong Appenteng – Member

Mr. Samuel Agyapong Appenteng is a Chemical Engineer by profession and an accomplished Entrepreneur. He attended Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, School of Engineering. He also attended University of Leicester, UK.

He has an in-depth industry and business leadership experience gained from various capacities in Management and Technical Services as General Manager of Intravenous Infusions Plc for 20 years. He was for many years a Council Member of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) where he occupied positions such as Eastern Regional Chairman, National Treasurer and served as National Vice-President.

He is the Managing Director of the Joissam Group (Joissam Ghana Limited and Joissam Gabon S.A.R.L).

He is the Chairman of the Ghana Alternative Exchange (GAX) Committee, Director of Intravenous Infusions Plc. He is a Corporate Member of the Ghana Institution of Engineers and a fellow of the African Leadership Initiative, West Africa (affiliate of the Aspen Institute of Colorado, USA).

He is a member of the Stanford Seed Transformation Network (STN) Ghana.

 

Dr. Mrs. Edith Dankwa - Member

Dr. Edith Dankwa has built a solid reputation over the years as a business growth strategist, management consultant and a publisher. She has served as a market entry strategist for foreign businesses seeking to extend their operations to Africa. She is a highly accomplished media entrepreneur and currently serves as the Board Chair of the Business Times Africa Magazine, Energy Today Magazine and the Business & Financial Times. 

She holds a doctoral degree in Business Administration with a focus on International Business from the Walden University, USA. She also holds an executive MBA from the GIMPA Business School and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Management Studies from the University of Cape Coast. Additionally, Dr. Dankwa holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing, and A Post Graduate Certificate in Newspaper Management from Inwent International Institute of Journalism, Germany.

She is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK as well as a fellow of the Institute of Certified Economists, Ghana.

Over the past decade, Edith Dankwa has effectively developed and transformed Ghana’s most successful business media house, Business & Financial Times Limited, into a formidable entity. Under her visionary leadership, B&FT Limited has extended its product and service range to serve both local and international markets through the publishing of her company’s flagship product Business & Financial Times Newspaper. As a publisher, Edith also runs the Pan-African business monthly, Business Times Magazine, the quarterly Pan-African energy industry publication and the Energy Today Magazine which are circulated in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Ghana and other emerging markets in Africa and beyond. 

Dr. Dankwa currently serves on boards such as the Right to Information (RTI) Commission, Unilever Ghana, International Chamber of Commerce (Ghana) and Africa Business Leaders Foundation. She is a founding member of the Executive Women Network.

 

Daniel Anarfi, MBA, PhD - Member

Daniel Anarfi has a PhD in Economics and Management from Mendel University in the Czech Republic, MBA (Finance) from the University of Ghana and a BSc. Accounting from the University of Professional Studies. He also holds an Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Management from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK).

An innovative, strategic leader, multi-skilled and a goal achiever with a proven ability to improve processes and people by promoting best practice procedures. Dr. Anarfi has over 10 years Finance, Accounting and Management experience in Private Institutions. Having worked with Deng Ghana Limited as the Head of Finance, he took charge of financial planning, budgeting, M&A activities, accounting, reporting and SOX controls.

Daniel has also worked with Covidien AG (A Medtronic Plc. Company) as a Procure-to-pay (PtP) team member at the European Financial Service Center in the Czech Republic and the Netherlands.

Dr. Anarfi is currently a Business Consultant where he works extensively in the field of Business incubation for SMEs in Ghana and also consults for Prominent Business People. He provides business and financial strategies for multiple business lines for existing and new product development whilst complying with legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions. He has also volunteered with diverse organizations over the past five (5) years supporting diverse non-profits and SMEs with his in-depth experience.
